Militarie Gun are preparing a deluxe edition of their latest album ‘God Save The Gun’, and the hardcore punk outfit have now unveiled the release’s first new offering with the Mannequin Pussy collaboration “World’s Always Burning.”
Due out August 7 via Loma Vista Recordings, the expanded version of ‘God Save The Gun’ will feature three additional tracks pulled from the album’s original recording sessions. Vocalist Ian Shelton explained that the bonus material represented a different perspective from the album’s more inward-looking themes.
“Everything in ‘God Save The Gun’ became so focused on the internal, that when it came to fitting these songs in, it felt like they had stepped outside of that perspective.”
Shelton added that the songs began to represent the feeling of reconnecting with the world after spending too much time trapped inside your own thoughts.
Leading the deluxe edition’s new material is “World’s Always Burning,” a collaboration with Mannequin Pussy that longtime fans may recognize from Militarie Gun’s live performances. Shelton said the track was inspired by concerns surrounding division, community and the larger issues affecting society.
“I can’t say whether or not the world is actually ending but it certainly feels like the sense of community in the world is all but dead.”
He continued:
“I wanted to write about all the things we’re tricked into arguing about so politicians and technocratic fascists can get away with whatever they want.”
The deluxe edition of ‘God Save The Gun’ will also include the additional tracks “3 AM” and “I’ve Said Too Much,” the latter featuring a guest appearance from Dazy.
Militarie Gun have also recently shared a new live performance recorded for Elevator Music, giving fans another look at the band’s current era.
