Industrial metal pioneers Ministry have unveiled “Burned Out,” the first single from what frontman Al Jourgensen insists will be the band’s final studio album.
The track arrives alongside details for ‘Hate To Go – Take Out Or Delivery,‘ a record currently scheduled for release on October 30 through Cleopatra Records. The album is being billed as Ministry’s farewell release and marks a notable reunion with longtime bassist and songwriter Paul Barker, whose original tenure with the band ran from 1986 through 2003 during some of the group’s most influential years.
Jourgensen first began discussing the band’s retirement plans in 2024, shortly after Barker returned to the fold. While early reports suggested Barker would play a significant role throughout the album, newly released details indicate his contribution may be limited to the closing track, “We’re Still Here.”
Given that Ministry previously announced their breakup in 2008 before returning three years later, some fans remain skeptical that this latest farewell will truly be the band’s last chapter. Nevertheless, Jourgensen appears committed to bringing the legendary industrial outfit to a close.

Speaking about the decision to end Ministry, Jourgensen offered a blunt assessment of where he stands after more than four decades leading the band.
“I’m fucking done. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. I’m amazed at the path that it’s taken, from ‘With Sympathy’ to where we’re at today, and all points in between. It’s been quite a ride, but I’m completely at peace with the fact that it’s done. It’s time to herd goats.”
