Back in January, The Vanflip Podcast featured Andrew Neufeld and Stuart Ross of Comeback Kid and Neufeld had mentioned there were some upcoming development with Misery Signals. Ross, who plays guitar in Misery Signals, as well as Comeback Kid, clarified that the band does have plans for 2024.
This morning, (March 27th), the Misery Signals social media accounts shared a 30-second teaser clip which mentioned past and present members, including former vocalist Karl Schubach and Jesse Zaraska. Zaraska left the band in early 2006 after the band had released their 2004 debut Of Malice and the Magnum Heart. Following Zaraska‘s departure, the band took to MySpace to audition his replacement where they found Karl Schubach.
Schubach would spend almost a decade in Misery Signals, lending his skills to three full-length releases, Mirrors (2006), Controller (2008), and Absent Light (2013), before “parting ways” with the band which coincided with the reunion of the original lineup for the ten-year anniversary of their debut release with Zaraska. Zaraska would return to front the band and Schubach would be relatively silent over the split, while Zaraska would officially return to the band and provide his talents on the band’s latest album Ultraviolet in 2020. Despite ups and downs in the relationships between Schubach and the band, it seems that things are better as he’s being included in the band’s plans moving forward.
