Swedish doom metal trio Monolord have unveiled a new music video for “Iodine”, a standout track from their latest studio album “Neverending.”
Directed by Victor Crusner, the newly released visual brings the track to life as the band continue promoting their most recent full-length effort, which arrived in May.
According to guitarist/vocalist Thomas Jäger, “Iodine” draws inspiration from the atmosphere and songwriting approach of classic 1970s rock acts, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Eagles and Led Zeppelin.
“Even though it’s maybe not musically similar, I think the vibe is similar. And the opening riff is my tribute to YOB, because I’ve always really liked Mike [Scheidt]’s guitar playing. He does all these weird chords where his fingers are all over the fretboard at the same time. It’s for sure my favorite song on the album.”
Jäger previously noted that the song’s opening moments were influenced by his appreciation for YOB guitarist Mike Scheidt, while also capturing the classic rock-inspired feel that helped shape the track.
“Iodine” appears on Monolord’s “Neverending”, which was released earlier this year. The band will continue supporting the record with a series of festival appearances, European dates and a North American run alongside Khemmis.
