MOTÖRHEAD Unearth “Lost” 1976 Recordings for 50th Anniversary Release ‘The Manticore Tapes’

A previously unreleased 1976 recording from heavy metal pioneers Motörhead is finally seeing the light of day. Titled The Manticore Tapes, the album will arrive on June 27th as part of the band’s ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations.

Captured at Manticore Studio in Fulham, London, these raw recordings document the earliest sessions from the group’s iconic ‘Three Amigos’ lineup: Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, Fast Eddie Clarke, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor. Though technically rehearsal sessions, these takes marked the first time this classic lineup recorded together.

Producer Cameron Webb was brought in to restore and remaster the original session tapes for this historic release. The collection showcases early versions of now-legendary tracks like “Motörhead”, “Leavin’ Here”, and “Vibrator”, along with rare instrumentals and alternate takes.

The deluxe expanded edition of The Manticore Tapes includes the original session recordings, a full live album, and a rare 7″ single—some of which have never been officially released before.
