Movements have officially announced their fourth studio album, ‘Happier Now,’ set for release on September 4 through Fearless Records.
Alongside the announcement, the Southern California post-hardcore outfit have released two new songs from the record: “Dissolve Me” and “Back In My Ways.”
The new material finds Movements continuing to evolve the emotionally charged and atmospheric sound that has defined the band throughout their rise in the post-hardcore scene. “Dissolve Me” leans into angular riffs, layered melodies, and explosive energy, while “Back In My Ways” takes a slower, moodier approach before erupting into a cathartic final stretch.
Discussing “Dissolve Me,” vocalist Patrick Miranda explained that the song helped shape the direction of the entire album:
“‘Dissolve Me’, the first track we wrote for this record, set a precedent for our writing process. Nailing the lead single for an album cycle on the first try is a significant accomplishment.”
He continued by opening up about the track’s lyrical themes and personal nature:
“Like much of the record, this song is introspective, and It’s a sort of confession about my own social behaviors and the challenges I face in navigating even the smallest or most ‘normal’ everyday interactions.”
Meanwhile, Miranda admitted that “Back In My Ways” took longer to connect with personally, though it eventually became one of his favorites on the album:
“Sometimes the early versions of the songs we write don’t hit right away, but over time it’s become one of my favorite tracks on the record.”
The upcoming album was once again produced by Will Yip, whose past work includes releases from Turnstile, Title Fight and Circa Survive.
According to Miranda, the goal with ‘Happier Now’ was to merge elements of the band’s earlier sound with the stylistic direction explored on 2023’s ‘Ruckus!’
The release also arrives during a full-circle period for the band, as Movements prepare to appear on this summer’s returning Warped Tour, years after growing up inspired by that same scene.
