My Chemical Romance have reportedly agreed to stop using their Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders-inspired costumes following a legal dispute with Pro Silver Star Ltd., the company behind the iconic cheerleading brand.
The dispute emerged last week after the band faced legal action over its onstage use of lookalike uniforms during its residency at the Hollywood Bowl. The performances featured cheerleading routines alongside a staged firefight involving fake blood, forming part of the production’s theatrical presentation.
Pro Silver Star Ltd. objected to the use of the cheerleaders’ recognizable look and trademarks, subsequently pursuing an injunction over alleged infringement.
According to a new report from TMZ, the two parties have now reached an agreement to resolve the legal dispute. As part of the reported arrangement, My Chemical Romance are said to have agreed to discontinue the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders-style uniforms going forward.
Neither My Chemical Romance nor Pro Silver Star Ltd. had publicly commented on the reported agreement at the time of writing.
The reported resolution brings a new development to the controversy surrounding the band’s Hollywood Bowl performances, which combined the cheerleader-inspired costumes with the production’s staged violence.
