American black metal outfit Necrofier have unveiled a new track titled “Fires Of The Apocalypse, Light My Path III”, offering another glimpse into their forthcoming full-length album.
The song appears on Necrofier’s upcoming record ‘Transcend Into Oblivion’, which is scheduled for release on February 27 via Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders for the album are currently available.
Speaking on the evolution of the band’s sound and the broader U.S. black metal movement, vocalist Bakka reflected on how American black metal has developed its own identity apart from its European roots:
“Black metal in America has always been different than in Europe. I think there’s been a siren song in the U.S. for this style of black metal to be created here. Something in the zeitgeist has pulled it forward. Bands like Uada, Hulder, Lamp Of Murmuur, Blackbraid, and Cloak have really been carrying the torch.
“America has been starving for this kind of music, especially with how rarely we see European black metal tours. That absence forced us — and others — to walk the left-hand path and create something of our own here.”
With ‘Transcend Into Oblivion’, Necrofier continue to push their vision of atmospheric yet feral black metal, further cementing their place among the leading figures in the genre’s modern American resurgence.
