New Idea Society have released a new song titled “Lantern,” marking the third single from the duo’s upcoming fourth studio album, Fire On The Hill.
The project is led by Stephen Brodsky—known for his work with Cave In and Mutoid Man—alongside Mike Law of Wild Arrows and Euclid fame.
According to Law, “Lantern” played an important role in shaping the overall direction of the new album, evolving significantly from the duo’s earliest demo sessions.
“[‘Lantern’] evolved from one of the earliest demos for the album once we settled on a direction. The first few things I sent to Steve were a lot more visceral and raw than where we ended up. This one morphed into Steve’s lyrical vision and it was a cool and rare experience for me to sing someone else’s words.”
The track continues the band’s emotionally layered and atmospheric post-hardcore approach while showcasing the collaborative chemistry between Brodsky and Law.
Fire On The Hill is scheduled for release on May 15th through Relapse Records.
