New Idea Society, the indie rock/post-hardcore duo featuring Stephen Brodsky and Mike Law, have premiered a new music video for “Nightbirds.”
The project pairs Brodsky — known for his work in Cave In and Mutoid Man — with Law of Wild Arrows and Euclid. The song appears on the duo’s upcoming fourth studio album ‘Fire On The Hill’, which is scheduled for release on May 15th.
Brodsky praised the track and Law’s songwriting, calling it one of his favorite compositions from his bandmate.
“‘Nightbirds’ is easily one of my favorite songs that Mike has ever written. I think it beautifully captures what it’s like to share a journey with someone. Togetherness, adventure, triumph and loss – it’s all here.”
He also applauded the video, saying it perfectly complements the scope of the song.
Law explained that “Nightbirds” came together quickly during the creative process after hearing Brodsky’s reworking of another song, which inspired him to raise the bar.
“It’s a cool phenomenon where someone writes something really good and it raises the bar.”
The video was created with director Stevie T, who previously worked with Law’s other band Wild Arrows.
With ‘Fire On The Hill’ due next month, New Idea Society continue building anticipation with another look at the record’s expansive and collaborative sound.
