Hudson Valley post-hardcore outfit New Vision have officially joined the roster of Papercut Recordings, the label co-founded by members of Brand Of Sacrifice and Fit For A King.
To mark the signing, the band have released their new single “I Am A Muse” alongside a music video directed by Seth Jones.
Guitarist Ryan Skinner explained that the track came together unexpectedly during a rehearsal, with one of its guitar parts drawing inspiration from Drug Church, one of his favorite bands.
“This song kinda came out of nowhere one day at practice. The lead I’m playing reminds me of something Drug Church would write, which is sick for me because they’re one of my favorite bands.”
Skinner also recalled the recording process, particularly the song’s high-energy approach and an unusual piece of gear used during its closing breakdown.
“In the breakdown at the end of the song, our producer Adam Cichocki had me try out the Boss Rotary Ensemble pedal for the lead and it turned out sick. I went home after we finished recording and bought the pedal on Reverb.”
Papercut Recordings co-founder Tuck O’Leary is similarly enthusiastic about bringing the Hudson Valley band into the label’s fold.
“New Vision is my new favorite rock band from the Hudson Valley. I’ve been hoping to find the right project from home to team up with.”
O’Leary added that New Vision’s sound should appeal to listeners with a fondness for artists ranging from Third Eye Blind to Fiddlehead, declaring that the group is “doing rock the right way.”
