Nickelback’s “San Quentin” Earns Gold Certification In The U.S.

Nickelback have added another milestone to their already stacked résumé, as their 2022 single “San Quentin” has officially been certified Gold in the United States.

The RIAA awarded the certification on January 28, marking the first sales and streaming accolade tied to the band’s tenth studio album, Get Rollin’. Released in September 2022, “San Quentin” served as the album’s lead single and quickly became one of its most recognizable cuts, fueled by its gritty riffing and confrontational lyrical tone.

While the diamond-certified rock outfit have long been among the most commercially successful modern hard rock bands, this achievement represents Get Rollin’’s first formal recognition in the U.S. market, further extending Nickelback’s extensive history of certified releases.

In the United States, Gold certification signifies 500,000 units sold or streamed, while Platinum denotes 1,000,000 units. RIAA certifications factor in modern consumption metrics, including digital sales and streaming equivalents, with 150 on-demand streams counting as one track-equivalent unit.
