Philadelphia shoegaze outfit Nothing have unveiled a new single, “Purple Strings,” accompanied by a Kevin Haus-directed music video. The track comes from the band’s forthcoming fifth studio album, A Short History Of Decay, set for release on February 27th via Run For Cover Records. Experimental harpist Mary Lattimore guests on the track, adding an ethereal layer to the band’s signature atmospheric sound.
The new song finds frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo reflecting on his life, confronting the onset of essential tremors, the trauma of his abusive childhood, and struggles with substance abuse, weaving those experiences into the band’s immersive sonic landscapes.
Alongside the single’s release, Nothing have announced their initial 2026 touring plans, including stops across Japan, North America, and the UK/Ireland. Limited pre-sales are available now using the code NADA26, with general on-sale beginning Friday, December 12th.
