Oceans Of Slumber have debuted their cover of Chris Isaak‘s gold-certified track from 1989, “Wicked Game“. The track can be found below, and the Texan progressive doom metal band has included this rendition of the song on their upcoming sixth studio album, Where Gods Fear To Speak, which is set to release on September 13th through Season Of Mist.
The band was originally going to include a cover of Roy Orbison‘s “Crying” on the album, but decided against it and go in another direction. Dobber Beverly, the band’s drummer, offered the following regarding the decision:
“When we were in Colombia, I heard a club remix of ‘Wicked Game‘ while out at a restaurant. It was so bad that I needed to go and make things right in my head.”
Regarding the cover being a last minute addition to the album, he said:
“We’ve taken the raw and heavier direction of our last two albums and elevated it to the scale of a blockbuster IMAX movie. Our cover of ‘Wicked Game‘ is the song that plays over the end credits.”
