Old Man’s Child mastermind Galder has shared a fresh glimpse of new material from the Norwegian black metal outfit’s long-awaited return. The project is currently in progress and will mark Old Man’s Child’s first full-length album since 2009, following Galder’s departure from Dimmu Borgir in 2024.
Earlier today (January 30), Galder posted a short demo clip to his Instagram, offering a preview of one of the tracks currently being finalized for the record. According to Galder, the forthcoming album will showcase a wide stylistic range, continuing Old Man’s Child’s tradition of avoiding repetition from release to release.
He explained that the new material spans everything from the fastest music he’s ever written to more melodic and atmospheric passages, noting that the teased track represents a slower, more unconventional moment within the album’s broader scope. Galder also revealed that while much of the music is already written, the record still needs one or two additional songs, along with final adjustments, before lyric writing begins.
With momentum building behind the project after years of dormancy, Galder hinted that more previews could surface as work continues.
