New Zealand death metal band Organectomy were recently the victims of a theft while on tour in France this week. The band shared the following update on May 07th regarding the incident:
“We have just woken up in our van at a gas station in France to find that our backpacks with passports, laptops, camera, cashbox and crucial music gear had been stolen out of it in the night while we slept.”
They went on to assure fans that they were working with local authorities in an effort to recover their stolen items and continue their tour.
The group has since launched a crowdfunding campaign to help recoup their losses, with the following message:
“As you may have seen, in the early hours of this morning some absolute scum robbed our van while we were sleeping in it, taking two bags containing passports, crucial gear, merch cash as well as expensive personal items right from under our noses.”
The band continued:
“As you can imagine, being a support band on tour on the other side of the world this is a huge setback for us and the unfortunate reality is that we will probably never see any of it again. So we are asking if you could please spare anything to help us recoup the costs, follow the link and donate whatever you can afford or if not, please share the page!”
Organectomy is currently on tour in Europe with Aborted, Crypta, and The Zenith Passage. The band performed in Lyon, France yesterday for the latest date on the tour. Despite the theft, they are doing everything possible to continue their European run, keeping fans updated as they work through the situation.
Fans who wish to contribute can follow the link in the band’s crowdfunding campaign and donate or share the page.
