Previously Unseen Footage Shows Ozzy Osbourne Emotionally Singing During Rock Hall Rehearsal

Newly surfaced footage captures a powerful behind-the-scenes moment from late metal legend Ozzy Osbourne’s 2024 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction rehearsals — revealing the iconic vocalist unexpectedly performing “Mama, I’m Coming Home” just one day before the official event.

While Ozzy Osbourne opted not to sing during the live broadcast of his Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction last October due to health concerns, newly unearthed rehearsal footage shows a rare and emotional moment. The clip — now circulating online — finds Osbourne stepping up to the mic and delivering a heartfelt rendition of his 1991 ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home”, marking one of his final public performances.

The moment unfolded during rehearsal on the eve of the induction ceremony. According to past comments by longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, the decision to sing was unplanned, with Ozzy spontaneously taking over the track in the absence of Jelly Roll, who would later front the televised version of the performance. Actor/musician Jack Black, who delivered Ozzy’s official induction speech, sat beside him during the song.

The induction honored Osbourne’s solo career and featured an all-star lineup, including Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Billy Idol, and Jelly Roll, among others. The footage now takes on added weight following Osbourne’s death on July 22nd at the age of 76.

Osbourne was previously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame with Black Sabbath in 2006. His final live appearance took place earlier this month at the ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert in Birmingham, UK on July 5th.
