TRIVIUM Call Out BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE for Ending ‘Poisoned Ascendancy Tour’ Plans Early

What was initially billed as one of the most ambitious tours of the year appears to have unraveled.

Last year, Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium jointly announced plans for a massive co-headlining run dubbed ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour’, set to span all of 2025. The tour was meant to honor the 20th anniversaries of each band’s pivotal albums — “The Poison” from Bullet For My Valentine and “Ascendancy” from Trivium.

While the European and UK legs of the tour successfully took place earlier this year, the nearly completed North American run is now expected to be its final stretch. The remainder of the global tour — including planned stops in South America, Australia, and beyond — has been shelved.

Though neither band has issued an official statement explaining the change, Trivium bassist/vocalist Paolo Gregoletto addressed the situation during a recent social media livestream. According to Gregoletto, the decision to end the tour early came from Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck:

“Matt Tuck didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why. I think it would have been amazing. I think ‘The Poison’ is a great album. I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together.

But we are going to do North America on our own with other bands. And we will have a lot of special surprises, just because we will [now] have more time to do stuff, so, that’s what it is.”

While Trivium appears ready to carry on solo with retooled plans for North America, fans elsewhere around the globe who were hoping to see this co-headlining celebration will be left disappointed — at least for now.

In the wake of Paolo Gregoletto’s comments, tensions have started to flare within both bands’ fanbases. Online discussions have become increasingly divided, with some fans expressing disappointment in the tour’s cancellation, while others have taken sides between the two bands.

Adding subtle fuel to the fire, Trivium made what many interpreted as a pointed reference to the situation:

Over on Trivium’s official TikTok, the band responded to fan criticism for publicly addressing the fallout with Matt Tuck. One comment in particular pulled no punches, stating:

“He’s the sole decision maker of the band and he has no respect for us or our crew.”
