Primitive Man Debut “Social Contract” Video Ahead of Halloween Album Release “Observance”

Denver doom metallers Primitive Man are set to unleash their new album Observance on Halloween, October 31st via Relapse Records. Ahead of the full release, the band has shared a new single and music video for “Social Contract”, giving fans an early taste of what’s to come since 2020’s Immersion.

Vocalist and guitarist Ethan Lee McCarthy explains the meaning behind the track:

“‘Social Contract’ deals with universal issues people are facing today, from the rise of authoritarianism to the erasure of history. The track mirrors these societal pressures while exploring personal struggles, with themes of fear, anger, and dread. The opening hits act like a clock ticking, signaling that life as we know it may soon change. The video highlights these problems and points to who might be responsible or benefiting from techno feudalism and other global events.”

The seven-song Observance was recorded earlier this year at Bricktop Recording Studio with Andy Nelson (Harm’s Way, 200 Stab Wounds) producing and Arthur Rizk (Soulfly, Blood Incantation) mastering.
