Veteran groove metal outfit Prong are currently planning to release their fourteenth studio album this November via Napalm Records.
Frontman and guitarist Tommy Victor confirmed the timeline during a recent interview with Laughingmonkeymusic, revealing that work on the record has already been completed and that touring plans are being organized around its release.
“I’ve just finished up a new record… It’s supposed to be out in November. We’re trying to get a tour around it. And we just signed a new deal with Napalm Records.”
Victor also discussed the overall creative direction behind the upcoming material, explaining that the band focused on authenticity rather than chasing trends.
“This record is like a real one that doesn’t give a shit about what’s going on today. So, we just do what we do and have a good time. It’s definitely modern in its own way, but I’m still trying to do something different, something that is different for the listener or something that is exciting, or trying to. It’s hard, because there’s nothing new under the sun; everything’s been done.”
While further details — including a title, tracklist, or first single — have yet to be announced, the album will mark Prong’s first new material since their most recent studio output and continues a decades-long run that has helped shape groove metal and industrial-leaning heavy music.
