Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin delivered another troubling live performance over the weekend during a free benefit show on March 1st at the Broken Spoke Saloon in Ormond Beach, FL. According to concertgoers at the Daytona Bike Week event, Scantlin appeared onstage in an intoxicated state, rambling and struggling to perform, adding to his long history of problematic onstage behavior.
Scantlin’s issues with substance abuse and legal troubles have been well-documented over the years. In 2018, the troubled musician claimed to have nearly a year of sobriety, crediting his faith and a stint in prison for helping him turn his life around. However, his issues have resurfaced with frequent run-ins with the law.
When asked about the disastrous performance the following day, Scantlin commented:
“I suck, I suck and I suck, but I was roofied. My old bass player Sean Sammon roofied me last night, so he can go fck his ass.”*
The performance was reportedly so bad that the venue’s owner later apologized to attendees for the disappointing set. For those curious about the onstage chaos, fan-filmed footage of the show is available below, with the comments on a Facebook post detailing the unfortunate events.
Despite the messy performance, a guitar autographed by the band raised $5,000 for children’s cancer research, providing a silver lining to the evening.
