Puscifer Launch Comic Series Exploring Maynard James Keenan’s Newest Persona

Puscifer have officially stepped into the world of comic books with the launch of ‘Tales From The Pusciverse’, a new series expanding the band’s ever-growing fictional universe. The first issue is available now via puscifer.com.

The debut installment was written by Maynard James Keenan and features artwork from Marlin Shoop (G.I. Joe, Captain Action) and Andy Bellanger (Friday The 13th, Kill Shakespeare).

This opening chapter centers on Bellendia Black, a newer character within the Pusciverse who was first introduced in the band’s “Pendulum” music video last fall. Keenan reflected on seeing the character come to life on the page:

“I remember how excited I was as an elementary school kid when Wolverine was first introduced in one of the Hulk issues. Called neighborhood dibs immediately (long before cosplay was a named thing). Seeing Bellendia Black in print brings back all of those joyful school kid memories.”

Artist Marlin Shoop added that the project goes far beyond a novelty release:

“Puscifer’s leap into comics with Maynard Keenan isn’t merch or novelty — it’s an extension of their long-running conversation with the absurd. The book hums with the same tension as the music: satire wrapped in menace, humor sharpened into philosophy. I’m glad I could be a part of that and bring it to their vision.”

A director’s cut of the “Pendulum” music video, featuring Keenan introducing the Bellendia Black persona, is available now. Future issues of ‘Tales From The Pusciverse’ are expected to spotlight additional characters, including Fanny Grey and The Synth Whisperer.

The comic launch arrives ahead of Puscifer’s new album ‘Normal Isn’t’, due out February 06, which will be supported by a North American tour with comedian Dave Hill.
