Quicksand Announce Fifth Album ‘Bring On The Psychics’, Debut Two New Singles

New York post-hardcore pioneers Quicksand have announced their fifth studio album, ‘Bring On The Psychics’, marking their first full-length release in five years.

The album is set for release on July 17th via Equal Vision Records and was produced and mixed by Jon Markson, known for his work with Drug Church and DRAIN.

The album title draws inspiration from a quote attributed to late scientist Carl Sagan.

Frontman Walter Schreifels described the record as influenced by early hardcore and youth crew records, while aiming for a similarly urgent and forward-looking energy:

“For this album, I was going back to a lot of my earlier influences about ‘Break Down The Walls’ or ‘Start Today.’ Regardless of whether you’re into hardcore or youth crew, they’re really cool records because they’re speaking to the time and providing possible paths to a better future … with mosh parts. That’s the energy that I wanted to bring to this.”

To mark the announcement, Quicksand have released two new singles: “Get To It” and “Regenerate.” The video for “Get To It” was directed by Jesse Korman of The Number Twelve Looks Like You.

Schreifels said the pair of songs are meant to capture urgency and forward motion:

“Get To It is about getting to it, poking holes in the excuses for standing still… Regenerate is about finding new paths forward.”

The album also includes a more expansive track titled “Days You Run To,” which Schreifels described as drawing inspiration from the more atmospheric side of bands like Fugazi and Pink Floyd.
