Danish industrial groove metal veterans Raunchy have shared another preview of their long-awaited comeback album, Prisoner, unveiling the official music video for the new single “Darkest Self.”
Prisoner is scheduled for release on August 14 via Mighty Music, marking the band’s seventh studio album and their first full-length release in 12 years.
The album has been years in the making, with initial recording sessions beginning nearly seven years ago. Reflecting on the lengthy creative process, keyboardist/vocalist Jeppe Christensen explained:
“This album took the time it needed. We had no deadline. No label breathing down our necks. We just wrote until the songs felt right and threw out everything that didn’t. I think you can hear that – there’s no filler on this one.”
Drummer Morten “Molle” Toft Hansen echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that the band focused solely on making the record they wanted.
“We’re not chasing anything. We made the record we wanted to make. If people show up, that’s the gift. And if they don’t, we’ll still have an album we’re proud of.”
Once again, Jacob Hansen (Aborted, Katatonia) handled production duties for the album.
