REFUSED Announce Final Farewell Shows, Reveal Plans For New Band

Legendary Swedish post-hardcore act Refused have revealed the final leg of their farewell tour, set to close out in their native Sweden this December. The band’s last-ever live performance will take place in their hometown of Umeå, Sweden on December 21st, 2025, marking the end of this chapter in the band’s storied career.

Alongside the announcement, drummer David Sandström shared a statement confirming the permanent nature of this farewell. While the band has reunited once before, Sandström insists that Refused will not be returning in the future like some other iconic bands:

“Refused won’t be pulling a Slayer. We only broke up once and it was involuntary. The reasons for ending the band are legion, but the two most important are that the band was never good for mine and Dennis’ relationship, and we’d rather be friends than play in a popular band. A new band has been born within Refused, and we’re excited to explore that with no baggage, no fans to please, and only our wildest musical hopes and dreams.”

The new project will feature Sandström, vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Mattias Bärjed, and bassist Magnus Flagge, offering a fresh start outside the Refused universe.

Refused’s final shows will feature an impressive lineup of collaborators and support acts, blending old friends and new talent from the hardcore, punk, and metal scenes. Notable acts joining them include Youth Code, Harrowed, Millencolin, Division Of Laura Lee, Abhinanda, Fireside, and more. Sandström described the lineup as a “glorious marriage of old and new, underground and established, traditionalists and risk-takers,” promising an unforgettable farewell experience.
