Manowar Mourns Death of Founding Guitarist Ross “The Boss” Friedman

American power metal legends Manowar have expressed their sorrow following the passing of founding guitarist and keyboardist Ross “The Boss” Friedman at age 72, after a battle with ALS. Friedman was also a co-founder of The Dictators and led his own project, Ross The Boss.

In a statement issued on March 27th, Manowar said:

“It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Ross ‘The Boss’ Friedman, following his recently announced ALS diagnosis. Music was Ross‘s life, and he left his mark across both heavy metal and punk rock. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans everywhere. Rest in peace, Ross.”

Earlier this year, a crowdfunding campaign was launched via GoFundMe to assist Friedman, who remained hospitalized as his neurodegenerative disease progressed. His contributions to the metal and punk scenes are widely celebrated, leaving a lasting legacy in both genres.
