CREED’s Stapp Stars Alongside His Son in Gritty Western Short Film ‘Deadman’s Trigger’

Scott Stapp (Creed) has unveiled a cinematic new short film titled Deadman’s Trigger, built around the solo track of the same name from his 2024 album Higher Power. The nine-minute Western was filmed at Whitehorse Ranch in Landers, CA, and features Stapp in a starring role alongside his son, Anthony Stapp.

Directed by Tyler Dunning Evans, the short transforms the song’s themes into a dust-covered, tension-filled narrative that mirrors the intensity of Stapp’s performance. Evans shared his thoughts on the creative collaboration:

“Adapting Scott’s storyline for the screen was easy because he is a narrative songwriter – the arc is already there. As a collaborator, he’s clear on his vision and values other creators’ expertise. With Anthony on-set and Milan working behind the scenes, Scott was hands-on in establishing safety measures and his love for his kids translated to a vulnerable but fierce performance in the final cut.”

Deadman’s Trigger offers a stylized visual interpretation of one of Higher Power’s_ standout tracks, blending father-son drama with Western grit.
