The future of Sick Of It All remains uncertain following the passing of vocalist Lou Koller, but the NYHC legends are now looking toward the possibility of continuing on together.
According to a new statement from Lou’s brother and longtime bandmate Pete Koller, Lou expressed his desire for Sick Of It All to carry on after his death. While Pete admitted that the group is still figuring out exactly what that could look like, the band are already working toward honoring his wishes.
Speaking in a video message shared on September 13, Pete first reflected on the loss of his brother and thanked the fans and wider hardcore community for the overwhelming support shown to Lou and the band in recent months.
He then revealed that Lou had made his wishes known before his passing:
“Before Lou passed, he said a couple of things that he wanted us to do, you know. He wanted us to keep the band going, and I’m not sure how we’re gonna do that, but we’re working on it.”
Pete also shared that Lou wanted to express his gratitude to the fans who helped make his life and career possible.
“He wanted to tell everyone thank you for giving him like such an amazing life. Touring the world, your job is playing your favorite music, stuff like that.”
While no specific plans for the future of Sick Of It All have been announced at this point, Pete confirmed that there are already “some things in the works” and promised to provide further updates.
Lou Koller passed away on July 24 following his battle with esophageal cancer, which he had been fighting since his diagnosis in 2024. He was the frontman of Sick Of It All for more than four decades, helping establish the band as one of the most influential acts in New York hardcore.
For now, the band’s next chapter remains unclear, but Pete’s latest message makes it clear that Sick Of It All are considering how they can continue while honoring Lou’s wishes.
