Skindred have released another preview of their upcoming studio album, unveiling a new single titled “Can I Get A” alongside an official music video.
The clip, directed by Steve Clarke, marks the latest entry in the rollout for the Welsh ragga metal band’s forthcoming record **‘You Got This’, which is scheduled to arrive on April 17 through Earache Records.
Lyrically, the track sees vocalist Benji Webbe reflecting on his childhood and the challenges he faced growing up as an orphan. According to Webbe, the song also serves as a message of resilience and self-belief for listeners who may be dealing with similar struggles.
“It’s me as a child seeing my friends with all these amazing things that people take for granted that I never had. I was eleven-years-old and was worried what my life would become. A lot of kids where I lived got into trouble and ended up in prison. I was just gonna grab that microphone and see where it would take me. I want to empower people to know that you can be what you want to be. Don’t spend your life worrying about what you haven’t got. Live your life because now is the time.”
The song continues the promotional campaign for Skindred’s next full-length effort, which will mark the follow-up to their recent run of successful releases and chart appearances.
