Slow Crush have unveiled two previously unreleased songs from the sessions for their latest album ‘Thirst‘.
The tracks, Que du noir and Hallowed, were introduced by vocalist Isa Holliday, who shared insight into the emotional inspiration behind the recordings.
According to Holliday, “Que du noir” is among the most intense songs the band has written.
“ ‘Que du noir’ is perhaps the darkest and most intense song we have ever written. When it first took shape, I couldn’t make it through a single take without breaking down. Every time I sang the lyrics, I was overcome with emotion.”
Written in French, the track explores themes of loss and heartbreak. Holliday noted that the song was written in Mykonos, during what she described as one of the brightest and warmest weeks of her life — a stark contrast to the emotional weight of the song itself.
The second track, “Hallowed,” takes a more atmospheric direction.
“ ‘Hallowed’ is a reflective, evolving, ambient inspired piece that opens with a spoken poem. It unfolds gently, like the perfectly synchronized heartbeat of a new and hopeful life — intimate, tender, and full of quiet promise.”
The release of the two B-sides comes just days before Slow Crush begin their upcoming North American headlining tour. The run will feature support from She’s Green and Spite House.
During the tour, the band will also host their Ebb & Flow Festival in Santa Ana, which will include additional performances from Moving Mountains and Luster.
