Sodom Go Old-School on ‘The Arsonist’, Unleash “Trigger Discipline” Lyric Video

German thrash metal pioneers Sodom are set to return with their 17th studio album The Arsonist, due out June 27th via SPV/Steamhammer. Known for their raw, aggressive sound since the early days of the genre, the band promises an unfiltered and organic sonic assault with this new effort.

“No plastic! The difference in sound compared to today’s standard drum productions is amazing and has had a positive effect on all the instruments,” said frontman Tom Angelripper. “Naturally, time and effort as well as costs were also higher, but we’re happy to fork out for a superior result.”

The Arsonist is being hailed as a fully collaborative effort from the current lineup, with longtime guitarist Frank Blackfire, fellow axe-slinger York Segatz, and drummer Toni Merkel all contributing to the songwriting.

“Frank contributed those typical Sodom riffs and hooks again, whereas York favors more epic songwriting,” Angelripper shared. “As a perfect complement to both of them, Toni, who is also an excellent guitarist, contributed a number of songs and helped to make the album even more versatile.”

The album’s lead single, “Trigger Discipline”, is already making waves. Described by the band as The Arsonist’s “toughest song,” the track centers around a sniper who’s lost all control and begins gunning down people at random.
