SOEN have unveiled the official music video for their new single “Indifferent,” which made its online debut today, January 13th. The track serves as the final preview of the Swedish progressive metal outfit’s forthcoming album Reliance, due out this Friday, January 16th.
Directed by Paul M Green, the video pairs stark visuals with the song’s emotionally restrained atmosphere. Lyrically, “Indifferent” explores the moment when emotional dependence gives way to distance, capturing the quiet devastation of realizing that a once-reliable connection has faded.
Vocalist Joel Ekelöf explained the song’s meaning, stating:
“‘Indifferent’ is about reliance turning into absence. The quiet shock of realizing that the person you lean on is no longer there emotionally.”
Drummer Martin Lopez also highlighted the song’s subtle intensity and orchestral elements, adding:
“Carried by the fantastic Atlantis string quartet, the song lets tension and restraint speak louder than anger. Connection carries risk, but it’s worth the attempt.”
“Indifferent” closes the chapter on the album’s pre-release cycle as SOEN prepare to officially release Reliance later this week.
