Sol Invicto have shared another entry from their ongoing Vault Of Shadows rollout, unveiling a breakbeat-driven rework of their track “There Never Was” (Breakbeat Mix). The industrial/electronic metal collective—built around Richie Londres, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter, and Cypress Hill percussionist Eric Bobo—continue to drop weekly alternates, demos, and deep-cut sessions from the project’s archives.
Last week’s debut, “Tokyo Nights”, spotlighted Londres’ production front and center. This week’s installment shifts the focus back to the project’s core trio, with Carpenter and Bobo layering in guitar textures and Latin-infused percussion.
Londres explained that this mix is a variant of an upcoming collaboration involving an as-yet-unrevealed Latin artist. He elaborated:
“A lo-fi gritty breaks track ft Stephen Carpenter of Deftones and Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill) adding the Latin flavour to the track. This is a alt version of a track we have coming up next year with a Latin artist.
Production Notes: Loose old school classic break, chopped a little but still keeping it loose, pushed with some kicks and snares running hot through distortion and delays. A dirty guitar recording sampled and chopped with some clean live percussion (one take) running behind holding the track together. Mastered with a low end push, gritty on purpose.”
More Vault Of Shadows releases are expected to drop on their regular weekly schedule.
