SOULFLY Announce New Album ‘Chama’, Drop First Single “Storm The Gates”

Soulfly are set to unleash their thirteenth studio album, Chama, this fall. The record, arriving October 24th via Nuclear Blast, was produced by drummer Zyon Cavalera alongside Arthur Rizk (Cavalera, Blood Incantation).

Frontman Max Cavalera explained the inspiration behind the title:

“Chama is the Brazilian word for flame. It also means a calling. Respect to Alex Pereira for using Itsari on his UFC walkouts. Chama is inspired by the energy of this moment. This record is the sound of Soulfly’s fire! I cannot wait to play these songs live for the Tribe!”

Zyon added that taking on production duties was a big step forward for him:

“With each Soulfly record I’ve played on, I can feel my evolution happening in real time. This one was no different, and I got to handle a lot of the production for the first time. Pushing the band into new territory was a blast, and I look forward to doing even more in the future.”

The band have dropped the album’s first single, “Storm The Gates,” a ferocious preview of what’s to come. Chama will also feature a stacked lineup of guest collaborators, including Todd Jones (Nails), Michael Amott (Arch Enemy), Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), Ben Cook (No Warning), and Gabe Franco (Unto Others).
