After years of performing together, Soulfly have officially parted ways with longtime bassist Mike Leon. The departure comes ahead of the band’s scheduled appearance at Nu Metal Revolution in Mexico City on May 3rd.
In a collective statement, the band confirmed:
“After many strong years together, Soulfly is parting ways with bassist Mike Leon. The tribe are still performing at the upcoming Mexico City’s Nu Metal Revolution on May 3rd with the Sorcerer, Igor Amadeus, of Cavalera band, Go Ahead and Die and Healing Magic filling in.”
Frontman Max Cavalera also shared a few words:
“We’re going in different directions now and we thank Mike for all the time spent with us rocking hard on stage!”
Igor Amadeus Cavalera, son of Max and a multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Go Ahead and Die, Healing Magic, and the Cavalera project, will be stepping in for live duties.
No word yet on a permanent replacement or future lineup changes beyond the upcoming festival appearance.

So basically, he wants to keep it in the family pay the band members as cheap as he possibly can. It’s basically becoming like Megadeth and Suicidal Tendencies, where the lead singer from the band has hired guns… I’ve read more than a few articles about how he treated Mark Rizzo, and a few other people who basically wrote every album and all he would do is come in play his guitar with two strings say OK I did that. I’ll write lyrics to it even though I’m gonna say I wrote the music because it’s my band and you’ll get no credits.😂
The cavelera family band? Ffs I didn’t even know they were actually still a band. Another band that’s not written a good song since their first album..
A reliable source told me that this guy was an absolute turd sandwich, and this was a conversation that we had a few months ago. I was not surprised when I saw the news.
