Canadian alt-metal outfit Sumo Cyco have unveiled a brand-new music video for “Stronger Now”, taken from their newly released album “NEON VOID.” The video was once again directed by the band’s powerhouse vocalist Skye Sweetnam, who also opened up about the song’s deeply personal origins.
According to Sweetnam, the track began on an upright piano gifted to her by guitarist Matt Drake, and it marked a turning point in her creative journey:
“We didn’t have much money at the time. I started sitting at this piano every day, relearning skills from lessons I’d taken 20 years ago. It was slow, frustrating work. Then ‘Stronger Now’ happened. I finally felt ready to step into my own power again. The crescendo hits like hope itself; it’s about standing tall even when you’ve been knocked down.
Playing that piano pulled me back to my childhood. It reignited my connection to music and creativity. In moments of anxiety and depression, this song became a reminder that hope can survive and even grow in the darkest times.”
