Canadian alternative metal outfit Sumo Cyco are officially back with their first new music in four years. The band just debuted their new single “Villains”, which arrives alongside an energetic music video directed by none other than vocalist Skye Sweetnam.
Sweetnam shared the inspiration behind the track, which dives into themes of perspective, privilege, and self-reflection:
“The track poses a question, how do we show up in other people’s stories? Could we be the villains without realizing it? It’s tongue-in-cheek but rooted in real discomfort, about privilege, corruption, and the spectacle we’re all part of. I love writing lyrics that end in a question mark, because they make you stop and think.”
