Tallah have returned with another chaotic taste of their upcoming album Primeval: Obsession // Detachment, due out September 05th. The self-proclaimed ‘nü-core’ aggressors have just debuted the official music video for “A Primeval Detachment”, a track that marks a pivotal turning point in the two-act record.
“This is not only the heaviest entry on the record, but potentially the heaviest in our entire discography. It’s relentless, top to bottom. Acting as the opening track of Act 2, the intro to the song really sets the tone. The pretty string quartet from Act 1 is falling apart, and the album takes a much darker turn. The final breakdown of this track is going to be a highlight at live shows, guaranteed.”
Bassist Max Portnoy, who directed and edited the music video, reflected on the shoot, which included a passionate turnout of dedicated fans:
“Shooting this video affirmed one thing for me… We have the best fans. So many people rolled up to this random underpass on short notice. We had our friend pull up with a truck full of scaffolding, and we weren’t sure if the shoot would be shutdown after 15 minutes of setting up, but our fans jumped in to help set up and teardown everything as fast as possible. Legitimately could not have done this video without them.”
In addition to the new single and video, Tallah have also launched an interactive digital experience titled The Primeval Game, developed in collaboration with Enzo Interactive. Vocalist Justin Bonitz shared:
“The ‘Primeval’ Game is a way to fully immerse yourself into this album. You get to interact with the world we’ve created and follow the story firsthand. We’re updating the game every month, with new content that furthers the story, along with tons of album and song teasers and easter eggs scattered around. It’s a really fun and unique way of promoting an album that I’m surprised more bands aren’t doing.”
