Teenage Wrist have released a new three-song EP, ‘A Different Shine’, with some notable help behind the boards. The Epitaph Records release arrived on November 6, featuring production and mixing work from Ken Andrews of Failure.
The collaboration also extends to the EP’s focus track, “Twist My Tongue,” which now has an accompanying music video directed by Erik Rojas. Andrews contributed to the song’s riff, while vocalist and guitarist Marshall Gallagher revealed that its lyrical inspiration came from an unexpected source.
Gallagher explained:
“A podcast I heard about the CIA seeding drugs into the music community.”
The band were enthusiastic about bringing Andrews into the process, having followed his work for years. Gallagher offered the following thoughts on the experience:
“We’ve been huge fans of his production and all his projects for a long time.”
Andrews also reflected positively on the sessions, highlighting the creative freedom shared throughout the recording process:
“There was complete freedom for everyone to toss in ideas at any point. Getting to work with a band that can make ideas come to life in the studio so quickly was a real treat for me.”
