The Haltom Theater in Haltom, Texas (Ft. Worth) has made the decision to cancel an upcoming Inquisition performance after learning about frontman Jason “Dagon” Weirbach and his disturbing criminal history involving child pornography.
Weirbach, the sole consistent member of the black metal outfit, has a documented past that includes a 2009 guilty plea to child pornography charges in Washington State. Official court records obtained by MetalSucks detail the case, revealing that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) flagged an account uploading explicit images of minors to Photobucket. Investigators traced the IP address to Weirbach’s residence in Everett, WA, where police discovered thousands of deleted files on his computer—some of which were recoverable and contained child pornography.
Further reports state that Weirbach attempted to cover his tracks, deleting as many as 2,000 files, but authorities were still able to recover significant amounts of illegal material. The findings ultimately led to his arrest and conviction. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, two years of probation, fined $1,000, and required to undergo counseling.
Despite this, Inquisition has continued to tour and release music, with some promoters and fans choosing to overlook or dismiss Weirbach’s past. However, the Haltom Theater has taken a firm stance, refusing to allow the band to perform at their venue.
The decision comes amid ongoing discussions within the metal community about accountability and ethical responsibility when it comes to booking artists with histories of criminal behavior, especially those involving abuse or exploitation. By rejecting Inquisition’s show, Haltom Theater is making it clear where they stand on the issue.
“This show is not at the Haltom…
We informed the promoter to find another venue….“
At this time, Inquisition has yet to publicly comment on the cancellation.
