Post-metal collective The Ocean have unveiled a newly released live video capturing their performance of “Oligocene,” taken from their ‘Phanerozoic II’ era.
The footage was filmed during the band’s 2022 European tour alongside LLNN and Playgrounded, offering a look back at a pivotal period for the group prior to major lineup changes that followed in subsequent years. The performance highlights the expansive atmosphere and dynamic intensity that defined The Ocean’s live presentation during that touring cycle.
Since that time, the band embarked on their ‘End Of An Eon’ tour, a run that ultimately marked the departure of several longtime members. Vocalist Loïc Rossetti, guitarist David Ramis Åhlfeldt, and drummer Paul Seidel all exited the lineup following the trek, signaling a significant transition for the long-running project.
Despite the personnel shakeup, The Ocean have confirmed their intention to move forward. While replacements have not yet been publicly announced, the band revealed in an update this past January that work on their twelfth studio album was nearing completion.
The newly shared live video serves as both a retrospective snapshot of the band’s recent era and a bridge toward their next chapter.
