German post-metal collective The Ocean are undergoing yet another major lineup shift. Frontman Loïc Rossetti, who has led the band’s vocals since 2009, has announced that he will be stepping down following the group’s performance at Hellfest Open Air on June 21st in Clisson, France.
His departure follows a string of exits for the band. Drummer Paul Seidel left earlier this year, followed by guitarist David Ramis Åhfeldt just weeks ago. These changes come after the band’s recent ‘End Of An Eon’ tour, which they previously billed as the final run with their longstanding lineup.
Rossetti shared the following heartfelt message via social media on June 13th:
**“What a wild ride these 16 years have been! As you might’ve heard, I’m stepping down as vocalist of The Ocean and Hellfest will be my final show with the band.
To everyone who’s been there from sweaty basement gigs to festivals, your support kept this fire burning. Some of you became real friends along the way. Never saw that coming. Thank you.
This decision is mine. Over time, our visions and creative paths naturally drifted. Without diving too deep into it, I’ve realized I’m no longer meant to be part of this particular dynamic. No drama, just heading in different directions.
The Ocean will carry on, and I wish them well. I’m proud of what we built. Big thanks to Robin, my bandmates, every crew member, my wife and family and everyone who helped make this journey possible.
As for me, I’m diving into something new and bringing all this energy with me. I’m stoked for whatever madness comes next.
Horns up, you beautiful lunatics. Thanks for making all this chaos worth it. Keep backing the bands you dig and stay safe out there.

The Ocean have not yet announced who will be stepping into the frontman role, but it’s clear the band plans to continue forward through a new chapter.
