The Violent Hour have premiered a new music video for their song “Already Dead,” bringing together a resurrection-themed concept with the group’s dark aesthetic.
The band is fronted by former Butcher Babies vocalist Carla Harvey alongside her husband, Charlie Benante of Anthrax and Pantera. For the new visual, the group teamed with director Vicente Cordero, whose previous credits include work with Cradle Of Filth and Fear Factory.
Harvey developed the treatment for the video, which centers around the idea of reaching rock bottom, only to realize that there is nowhere left to go but up.
The band describes “Already Dead” as a resurrection story about hitting a point where there is nothing left to lose and finding the freedom to rise again, pick up a guitar and celebrate. The song’s central idea is summed up by the notion that something that is already dead cannot be killed again.
The concept also carries a personal connection for Harvey. Before her career in music, she worked in mortuary science and funeral direction, giving her firsthand experience with death and the rituals surrounding the end of life.
That background made the video’s subject matter a natural fit for Harvey, who was able to draw from her previous work when developing the visual concept for “Already Dead.”
