Carla Harvey & Charlie Benante Announce Debut EP From THE VIOLENT HOUR, Set For July Release

The Violent Hour, the newly unveiled musical collaboration between Carla Harvey (ex-Butcher Babies) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax/Pantera), will release their self-titled debut EP on July 25th. Pre-orders are set to go live tonight, June 19th at 09:00pm EST / 06:00pm PST, via orcd.co/theviolenthour.

The EP’s first wave of singles features a number of standout guests, including John 5 (Mötley Crüe, etc.) and Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne/Pantera). Crobot frontman Brandon Yeagley will also appear, contributing vocals to the track “Portland, Oregon”.

Harvey, who penned the lyrics and recorded all vocal parts, reflected on the emotional journey behind the project:

“Writing this EP was a liberating experience. When I started, I felt lost…but by the time I sang the last note, I had found myself again… This EP reflects all sides of me: it’s made by the 16-year-old who loved everything from Lynyrd Skynyrd to thrash metal, the grit and riot girls of the ’90s, and the danger of Guns N’ Roses. It’s raw and it’s real… Working with Charlie on these songs was a dream… I couldn’t have made this album without him.”

Benante—who handled all instruments, songwriting, production, and even created the cover art—added:

“Carla was my muse in all of this… Once we got started, it was that lightning-in-a-bottle feeling… I think that this EP, when people hear it—I don’t care if you’re 13, 33, or 63—you’re going to feel the power of it… this just might become your favorite new band.”
