The Warning have canceled their scheduled performance at Rock Werchter after drummer/vocalist Paulina “Pau” Villarreal Vélez fainted during the band’s concert earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (July 1) at Skaters Palace in Münster, Germany, where Pau collapsed during the band’s performance of “DISCIPLE,” approximately 11 songs into the set. After a brief pause, sisters Daniela and Alejandra Villarreal returned to the stage to perform two songs acoustically before ending the show early.
On Friday (July 3), the Mexican rock trio confirmed they would no longer be performing at Rock Werchter, explaining that Pau requires additional time to recover.
“To our fans at Werchter Festival,
We were hopeful that Pau would be ready to perform today, but her illness was tougher than we expected and she needs more time to rest and recover before she can return to stage.
Unfortunately, we have to cancel today’s performance at Werchter Festival.
We’re so sorry to everyone who was planning to see us tonight. We were really looking forward to coming back to Belgium and play for you. Thank you for all the love, patience, and understanding you’ve shown us over the last days.
Veel liefs,
Dany, Pau and Ale”
Prior to collapsing in Münster, Pau reportedly told the crowd she had been feeling unwell but wanted to continue the performance.
She later addressed fans on social media, thanking them for their support while apologizing for the shortened set.
“sorry to the cut show short munster, i hope that you still had fun for the short amount of time that we were able to play – thank you for understanding – i shall rest a little bit now! danke!”
At the time of writing, no additional updates have been shared regarding when Pau is expected to return to the stage.
