AS I LAY DYING’s Tim Lambesis on Band Relaunch: “All the Loss From Last Year Is One of the Greatest Blessings I’ve Ever Had”

As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis has pushed back against claims that his latest relaunch of the band is merely a “money grab.” With the band unveiling new music this week, Lambesis also reopened comments on their official social media accounts—a feature that had been disabled amid last year’s drama and allegations that led to the band’s second lineup collapsing in November 2024.

Accompanied by an entirely new backing band and the release of the track “Echoes”, Lambesis debuted the third lineup he’s assembled for As I Lay Dying. He also addressed detractors directly on social media. When a comment simply read, “Money grab”, Lambesis fired back:

“0% chance you have even the slightest idea how the music industry works. I sold all my motorcycles just to get this back on track. It’s pure passion.”

Lambesis highlighted that interaction on his Instagram Stories, pairing it with Austrian Death Machine’s track “Chill Out Dickwad” as a pointed soundtrack. He also shared another recent exchange where a fan wrote, “the ‘victim’ suit does not fit you anymore…”

Lambesis responded:

“I agree because I don’t consider myself a victim. This is the best quality of life for me thus far, and all the loss from last year is one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever had in my life. So thankful. Maybe you misunderstand me standing up against false narratives about me as me thinking I’m a victim. I’m just part of the few people in society who cares to dig for truth rather than the media’s narrative.”

Last fall saw a dramatic mass exodus of band members from As I Lay Dying, with most publicly citing Lambesis’ concerning behavior as the primary reason for their departure. Leaked home security footage and additional reports emerged, showing heated exchanges with his then-wife and instances of erratic behavior, including self-harm. Lambesis later claimed he had been the victim of abuse from his wife over a three-year period, a statement she later partially refuted months afterward.

With the new lineup and “Echoes”, Lambesis appears determined to move forward, framing last year’s turmoil as a personal and professional turning point rather than a setback.
