Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has officially unveiled his forthcoming solo album, ‘Everyone Gets Everything They Want’. Described by the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer as his first-ever rock solo album, the record is scheduled to arrive on September 25th via Mom + Pop Music.
The newly released “Date Night” serves as the fifth single from the album and draws inspiration from Freddie Oversteegen, Truus Oversteegen and Hannie Schaft, three teenage members of the Dutch resistance who fought against the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands during World War II. The trio became known for carrying out acts of sabotage and resistance, including operations targeting German officers.
Morello once again enlisted the talents of his son, Roman Morello, for the track. Speaking about “Date Night,” he stated:
“I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists, I make anti-fascist songs for anti-fascists. And I make anti-Nazi songs for anti-Nazis. ‘Date Night’ is really a ‘which side are you on?’ song. If any of that offends you, do the math. Oh, and Roman Morello wrote the killer riff in this tune.”
Several songs from ‘Everyone Gets Everything They Want’ have already surfaced, including “Adjourn It,” which features System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian and Roman Morello, as well as “Everything Burns,” Morello’s Final Fantasy XIV collaboration featuring Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo.
Additional guest appearances can be found throughout the album. Irish rap group Kneecap, whom Morello previously described as “the Rage Against The Machine of now,” appear on the track “Unconquered.”
