Tom Morello Confirms Unreleased AUDIOSLAVE Material Still Could See The Light Of Day

Tom Morello has once again teased the possibility of unreleased Audioslave songs finally being shared with the world. The Rage Against The Machine guitarist, who is also a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee alongside Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, revealed that roughly an album’s worth of material from the supergroup remains archived.

Audioslave, which combined Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, and Cornell, released three albums in the early 2000s, earning multiple platinum and gold certifications in the United States. While a posthumous Soundgarden release featuring Cornell is in the works, Morello confirmed that fans may eventually hear previously unheard tracks from the grunge/rock supergroup as well.

Speaking on snsmix last month (via The PRP), Morello addressed the status of those recordings:

“There’s probably like an album’s worth of great Audioslave songs that were not released. In part because — first let me explain — that when bands are deciding what songs go on their records and what don’t, it’s not always sensible. It’s not like here’s the 10 best jams. Sometimes it’s like, someone likes this one, someone’s not feeling that one. So, we had from each of the three Audioslave records, we had songs left over, some of which are really great.

And you know, I hate say this because it’s just every time it comes up in interviews, it’s a tease. It becomes a pull-quote that people hound me about. It’s not for lack of anything other than that just we don’t have it together. There’s no plan to not put it out. I would love for it to get in the world, and hopefully it will one day.”

While a release date or concrete plans for the recordings have yet to be announced, Morello remains optimistic that fans will eventually get a chance to hear unheard Audioslave material.
