A former member of Colorado death metal/hardcore outfit 10 To The Chest has come forward with serious allegations against Trae Roberts, claiming he stole over $6,000 from the group before their breakup and continues to profit off their name without the rest of the band’s consent.
In a Reddit post made earlier this week, the unnamed former member detailed that the band has officially disbanded but alleged that Roberts continues to operate as if the group were active—running their social media accounts, selling vinyl, and handling merch orders, while keeping 100% of the profits. The post claims this has been happening throughout 2025. The statement read:
“This was never a solo project, Multiple members contributed creatively and financially. He is now erasing that history and monetizing the project as if it were entirely his.”
The former member also claims to have written confirmation of Roberts admitting to using more than $6,000 in band revenue—from merch, show payouts, and other income—for personal expenses. Screenshots shared online appear to show Roberts refusing to share funds with former bandmates and allegedly using the money for non-band-related purchases.
According to the post, 10 To The Chest were originally scheduled to appear on Sanguisugabogg’s upcoming tour with Despised Icon, but were forced to drop due to the band’s internal fallout and eventual split.
This news follows the recent hiatus announcement from Roberts’ other band, Mouth For War, who earlier this year issued a statement confirming their disbandment “due to recent events.” Notably, Roberts’ name was left out of that statement—something many now believe was intentional.
“The public is being misled into supporting what they believe is a functioning band, In reality, they are funding one person exploiting collective work and intellectual property without permission.”
The former member stated they have begun contacting the label involved in pressing 10 To The Chest’s vinyl and encouraging others to avoid purchasing merch from the band’s official channels, citing ethical concerns.
