Trivium have officially welcomed Greyson Nekrutman (Sepultura) as their new drummer, marking another major lineup shift in the metal world. Nekrutman made his live debut with the band during their set at ‘Aftershock Festival’ in Sacramento, CA on October 4th.
The announcement follows the recent departure of longtime drummer Alex Bent, which was confirmed just a day earlier. Nekrutman, who has recently been performing with Sepultura on their farewell tour, previously played with Suicidal Tendencies before becoming part of a now-infamous three-way drummer shuffle that also involved Slipknot and Jay Weinberg.

Trivium shared in a statement:
“Trivium welcomes @greyson_nekrutman on the drums. Catch him at @aftershockfestival & on our Fall Tour with @jinjer_official & @heriotmetal.”
Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy also extended his gratitude to Sepultura, adding:
“Thanks for everything @greyson_nekrutman!! Thank you @sepultura for letting us hang with your phenom of a drummer. We played ‘Slave New World’ in your honor!”
As a nod to Nekrutman’s previous band, Trivium performed their cover of Sepultura’s “Slave New World” for the first time since 2010 during the Aftershock set.
The band will continue with Nekrutman behind the kit on their upcoming fall headlining tour with Jinjer and Heriot, which kicks off October 31st in Myrtle Beach, SC and runs through December 14th in Orlando, FL.
